Elaborate & Evaluate — model and prioritize
Elaborate & Evaluate (E) is where a framed problem becomes a shaped solution. You model the What, the Who and the When, then prioritize — because you can't build everything, and the point is to bet on what matters most.
What you're doing here
Two moves: elaborate (sketch the solution and the people it serves) and evaluate (rank the possibilities so the highest-value, riskiest work rises to the top). Keep it light — these are models to think with, not specifications.
The tools
- Lean Canvas — capture the whole business model on one page: problem, solution, unique value, customers, channels, costs and revenue.
- User Persona — bring a representative customer to life: their goals, frustrations and context.
- Backlog Item — collect candidate units of work as they surface.
- Traction Model (AARRR) — think through Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral and Revenue.
- Prioritization hub — compare what matters using RICE, MoSCoW, Kano and the 90% Rule, ranked and grouped in one place.
Moving on
With the solution modelled and priorities clear, advance to Adapt & Agree to design experiments and commit the work to a sprint plan. You can always step back to Look & Listen if the What and Who need more definition first.
