The Learnings Matrix
The Learnings Matrix is your project's running log of everything you learn. Open it from the workbench in Run & Register (it's also visible in Next or Not? for review). Every entry is one of two kinds:
- Metric — a measurement or result (a goal hit or missed).
- Risk — a barrier or challenge that may need attention and could escalate.
Registering a learning
Give it a short description and an optional Key ID (e.g. R-1) so you can
reference it. The description and any mitigation notes support Markdown —
bold, lists, tables, links — and render formatted on the matrix. You can also
assign RACI — who's Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and
Informed. Not sure if something's a metric or a risk? Classify & advise
asks the Coach.
Seeding from a Note or Backlog Item
You don't have to start from a blank form. Create from a Note or Backlog Item seeds a learning from something you've already captured — a Note's title and body, or a Backlog Item's story and acceptance criteria, are copied into the description for you to refine before registering.
The copy is a snapshot taken at that moment: editing the original Note or Backlog Item afterwards won't change the learning. The learning does keep a provenance link back to its source — shown as a small From: … badge on the row — so you can always trace where it came from.
Seeding from Issue and Risk artifacts
Creating an Issue always registers a Metric-kind Learning; creating a Risk artifact always registers a Risk-kind one — both automatic, both carrying the same From: … provenance badge as Note/Backlog Item seeding above.
The lifecycle
Each entry moves through three stages, tracked by date:
- Registered — logged so it isn't forgotten.
- Escalated — flagged as needing attention.
- Mitigated — resolved, with a note on how.
Which loop a learning came from
Each entry carries a Loop badge, so when you're reviewing learnings you can see at a glance which loop it was registered in.
Risks = your risk register
Filter the matrix to Risks for a live risk register. Open risks also surface on your Dashboard so nothing slips through the cracks.
