Collaboration
Inviting people to a project
Projects are better with collaborators. You can invite anyone by email — whether or not they already have a Sandbox account.
Sending an invite
- Open a project and go to Members (from the project board).
- In Invite a member, enter the person's email and pick a role.
- Click Send invite.
What happens next depends on the email address:
- They already have a Sandbox account — they get an email and the invitation appears in their Invitations inbox. The moment they accept, they're in.
- They're new to Sandbox — they get an email inviting them to create an account with that address. Once they sign up and verify their email, the invitation is waiting in their inbox to accept.
Either way the invite shows under Pending invitations until it's accepted. You can Revoke a pending invite at any time.
Roles
Roles are bundles of what someone can do. From least to most access:
- Member — can view the project and its work.
- Manager — everything a Member can do, plus run the tools, experiments, learnings, and loop decisions.
- Admin — everything a Manager can do, plus invite and manage members and archive or end the project.
- Owner — full control, including managing admins and transferring ownership. Every project has exactly one owner: the person who created it.
You can change someone's role or remove them from the Members list.
Who can invite and assign roles
Inviting and managing members requires the Admin or Owner role. You can only assign roles below your own — so an Admin can invite Managers and Members but not other Admins, and Owner is never assignable (ownership moves via Transfer ownership).
Accepting an invite is what grants access — an invitation on its own doesn't add anyone to the project. Declining one simply removes it.
